Working near midtown most days, I have frequently seen the signs outside the Frist Center for the exhibits on display. A few months ago, a friend mentioned that I should check out Chihuly. That though passed, and life happened. I completely forgot about the exhibit until my secretary came into the office last Monday rambling about how impressive the display was at Cheekwood Botanical Garden. Knowing that she really isn't a big art freak, I took this as my cue.
Being the "Meat 'n Taters" guy I am, I had no clue who Chihuly was, so, naturally, I turned to Google. The first Google shopping result yields a nice "Silver Blue Seaform Set." I have no clue what that means. My first thought is "Google it!" But then again, that would create some vicious cycle, now wouldn't it? All I knew at this point was that I wouldn't be buying any work by this guy, as the selling price of $11,500.00 is just a smidge out of my price range.
After clicking around a bit, I found a site showcasing the talents of glass artist, Dale Chihuly. Wow! Color me impressed. Not only do we have a beautiful outdoor display at Cheekwood, but also a collection indoors at the Frist Center. Put it on your list of reasons why Nashville is an awesome place to live.
Save $5, and buy your combo ticket to check out both displays for only $20!
